Shahrukh Khan was born to Muslim parents on November 2nd, 1965, in New Delhi, India. Shah Rukh Khan is how he would want to have his name spelled out, yet he is also known by the initials SRK. His family was middle class, renting flats since his father was involved in various businesses, including a restaurant. Khan got his start in the industry in the late ’80s by guest-starring on a number of different TV shows. In 1991, Khan made the move from Delhi to Mumbai in order to focus on his Bollywood profession full-time. In the June 1992 feature release “Deewana,” he made his first appearance. With the success of “Deewana,” Khan was able to break into the Bollywood industry. Throughout the early to mid-1990s, Khan was cast mostly in villainous roles, such as in 1993’s “Darr,” 1994’s “Baazigar,” and 2000’s “Kabhi Khushi Kabhie Gham…” However, by the late ’90s, Khan had begun to be cast as the romantic protagonist.

Khan is also the producer and owner of Red Chillies Entertainment. Khan stars in two or three films every year, making him a staple in Indian media. He is also frequently featured in commercials, magazines, and billboards. More than a billion people are said to be devoted to his work.
The government of India honoured him with the Padma Shri, their country’s fourth-highest civilian award; the government of France honoured him with the titles of Officier of the Ordre des Arts et des Lettres and Chevalier of the Legion of Honor, respectively.
After six years together, Shah Rukh Khan and Gauri Chibber tied the knot in October 1991. Aryan and AbRam are boys, and Suhana is a girl. Currently, Aryan is enrolled in the USC School of Cinematic Arts, while Suhana attends NYU to pursue a degree in theatre and acting. His wife is Hindu, thus the family also follows their faith.
Khan spoke about his courting of his wife Gauri in an interview with David Letterman for the Netflix show “My Next Guest” in 2019. He specifically mentioned how, early in their relationship, she fled to Mumbai from him. The man was very possessive. So, Khan did what? He rounded up a few pals and made the trip to Mumbai to track her out. In essence, he followed her everywhere.
Khan’s charitable work mostly relates on health care and emergency aid. His efforts to promote children’s education earned him the Pyramide con Marni award from UNESCO in 2011, and his advocacy for the rights of women and children in India earned him the Crystal Award from the World Economic Forum in 2018. In addition to being named one of the fifty most powerful persons in the world by Newsweek in 2008, he frequently appears on lists of the most important individuals in Indian culture.
He is known as “The Baadshah of Bollywood,” “The King of Bollywood,” and “King Khan,” and in 2011 the Los Angeles Times named him “the biggest movie star you’ve never heard of… maybe the world’s largest movie star, period.”
